Q

what happens during angiography?

A

-catheter is advanced through the Ao to the CA for CA and circle of willis eval and to the subclavian and for ventrobrasila and circle of willis eval
-contrast opacifies the vessel lumen in norm vessels
-areas of absence of contrast indicates narrowing/obstruction
-used to estimate diameter stenosis and can be compared with US info

Q

limitations for angiogaphy?

A

-invasive
-contrast allergen
-single plane eval
-can only estimate diameter stenosis not location
-no flow velocity
-no turbulent flow
