Urogenital organs Flashcards
Internal iliac artery
BRANCHES:
iliolumbar artery
lateral sacral artery
superior gluteal artery (⇒gluteus medius and minimus)
inferior gluteal artery (⇒gluteus maximus)
internal pudendal artery
obturator artery (⇒adductor muscles)
umbilical artery
inferior vesical artery
middle rectal artery
uterine artery (⇒uterus + fallopian tube)
Urinary bladder
- located in lesser pelvis
- capacity of 300-500ml
- infraperitoneal orgam
- ligaments to symphysis: pubovesical/puboprostatic
- support: superior pelvic diaphragmatic fascia
Blood supply of Urinary bladder
ARTERY: - superior/inferior vesical artery - obturator artery - inferior gluteal artery - uterine artery - vaginal artery VEIN: - vesicoprostatic plexus/ plexus at base of round ligament ⇒ internal iliac vein
Innervation of Urinary bladder
sympathetic: hypogastric plexus
parasympathetic: pelvic splanchnic nerves
Male Urethra
- internal sphincter muscle ⇒ pierces prostate
- 3 parts: prostatic, membranous, spongy part
- 2 flexures: perineal flexure and pubic flexure
- bulbourethral glands + Littre’s glands open into
Layers of scrotum
- tunica vaginalis
- spermatic fascia
- cremaster muscle
- cremasteric fascia
- tunica dartos
- skin
Blood supply of Prostate
ARTERY: - inferior vesical artery - middle rectal artery - pudendal artery VEIN: prostatic plexus ⇒ internal pudendal vein
Blood supply of penis
ARTERY:
- dorsal and deep penile arteries
Nerve supply of penis
dorsal penis nerve (pudendal nerve)
Blood supply of ovaries
ARTERY:
- ovarian artery (abdominal aorta)
VEIN:
- ovarian vein ⇒ renal vein/ IVC
Uterus
- located in lesser pelvis
- intraperitoneal organ
- anteverted 70-80 degrees
- anteflexed
- fundus, body and cervix
- endometrium, myometrium, perimetrium
- length 7-8 cm
- support: urogenital and pelvic diaphragm, broad ligament, pubovesical and vesicouterine ligaments
Pelvic diaphragm
- composed of levator ani muscle + superior and inferior pelvic diaphragm fascia
Urogenital diaphragm
- composed of deep transverse perineal muscle + inferior and superior urogenital diaphragm fascia
Ischiorectal fossa
BORDERS: lat: obturator internus muscle + fascia med: levator ani muscle + inferior pelvic fasica CONTENT: - pudendal nerve - internal pudendal artery and vein ⇒ Alcock's canal
