Muscular, 3 sided pyramidal organ for
urine storage located in the pelvic cavity
Expands into the
abdominal cavity when full potentially to the level of the umbilicus
Walls are made of
Detrusor muscle
Apex with median umbilical ligament -
embryological remnant continuing to the umbilicus
Fundus-
opposite of apex through which the ureters enter
Body
Between the apex and fungus
Neck
Convergence of fundus and inferolateral surfaces into the urethra
Tigon
Smooth triangular area on the internal surface between openings of ureters (ureteric orifices) and urethra (internal urethral orifice)
Inferolateral surfaces rests on
the pelvic diaphragm
Base (fundus) associated with
Rectum (males) and Vagina (females)
Apex- associated with
Pubic symphysis
Superior surface- in contact with
abdominal parietal peritoneum and uterus (females)
Arteries- branches off the internal iliac aa
(veins similar names and distrubutions as arteries)
- superior vesicular aa.
-inferior vesicular aa. (males)
-vaginal aa. (females)
