Urinalysis Flashcards
What are kidneys
Kidney’s are where urine is formed
What is urethra
A tube that makes urine leave your bladder
What is the anatomy of kidneys
Renal Medulla, Renal Cortex, Renal Pelvis
What is Renal Medulla
Beneath cortex and contains renal pyramids
What is Renal Cortex
Outmost layer of tissues of kidney
What is Renal Pelvis
Funnel shaped expansion to transfer pee
What is nephron
Located in medulia
What is Glomerulus
Filters glucose, and salt into Bowmans’s capsule. Larger molecules don’t get filtered
What is Bowman’s Capsule
Surround the Glomerulus. Filter’s the glomerular filtrate into renal tubule
What is Renal Tubule
Proximal Convoluted Tubule
What are Casts
Kidneys form secrete microprotien which creates casts when built-up.
Hyaline Casts - Because of stress, exercie or renal disease
Granual - Stress, toxic tubular damage
Cellular - acute glormerulonephritis
Waxy - Chronic Kidney Disease
What is the urine composition
95% of water and 5% of other dissolved substances
What are some diagnosises with Urine Chemistry
Glucose, Biliruben, Ketones, Hematuria, pH, Protien, Urobilinogen, Nitrite, Specific Gravity
What is glucose
Indicates diabetes
What is biliruben
Liver Disease, Hepatitis, Bile Duct obstruction
