After WW2, labs grew in size & #. They need more edcated ppl on this topic, needed to define the education requirement and identify trained persons

ASCP created a commitee on qualified lab workers. They debated over termanology which led to the name Medical Technologist and Lab Technincian

Education requirements are set. School for Clinical Science is open. Estalbished exams to measure knowledge + ability of worker

What are present labs like?
More inventions (i.e: preventive medicine, geriatric medicine, home healthcare, hospice). More streamlined testing process + easier test. Electronics introduced in lab increased efficeny and lower errors. Micro.nano technology + cytometry + laser imaging = faster testing

ACSP and NCA merged to ASCP BOC and made Clinical Lab Scientsit/Technician
