Q

Article: “High Incidence of Shoulder Injuries in Collegiate Modern Dance Students”

3) What factors may contribute to higher rates of shoulder injury in modern dance students? Identify 2 that was mentioned in the article.

A

On factor is a lack of cross-training and shoulder strength and endurance to prevent injury.

Another factor is the conditioning of the students who took courses that were taught by teachers that weren’t all exclusively trained in one type of modern technique. So the students were expected to execute dramatic falls, handstands, and partner lifts that could lead to exacerbation or causation of shoulder injuries.
