Khrushchev’s de-Stalinization policies

A

After Stalin’s death, his successor, Khrushchev, wanted to dissociate himself from Stalin, so this process was meant to do just that by attempting to end large-scale forced labor in the economy and destroy Stalin’s public image. However, it was highly unsuccessful as Soviets had been trained to admire Stalin, and it severely damaged the prestige of the Soviet Union and contributed to uprisings in Poland and Hungary
