e. g. Writers of crime fiction usually use the argot of criminals and detectives to create a realistic atmosphere.

e. g. An artless, naive girl.
Guileless
(adj) devoid of guile; innocent and without deception
e. g. His face, once so open and guileless
Ascetic
(n) one who practices self-denial (زاهد)

e.g. Muslim ascetics consider the internal battle against human passions a greater jihad the struggle against infields.
Subjugate
(v) bring under domination or control, especially by conquest
e. g. The invaders had soon subjugated most of the population
Asperity
(n) severity, harshness, irritability
e. g. He pointed this out with some asperity
Aspersion
(n) slander; calumny; false rumor
e. g. The Republic of Singapore is a young democracy, and its leaders often respond strongly to journalists and others who cast aspersions on their integrity.
Assiduous
(adj) diligent; conscientious; hard-working
e. g. The assiduous people of Hong Kong live in a territory with one of the highest per capita incomes in the world.
Assuage
(v) to make less severe
e. g. The letter assuaged the fears of most members
Astringent
(adj) harsh; severe
e. g. Bob tends to nick himself when he shaves, so he uses an astringent aftershave to stop the bleeding.
