Temporal flashes, monochromatic

Rhegmatogenous (associated with a tear)
Trauma
Exudative (due to inflammation)
Tractional either PVD or PVR (post RD surgery)
What causes tears?
99% caused by PVD
What two types of surgery are used?
Vitrectomy
Buckling
What proportion of symptomatic PVDs will have a tear?
25%
College of Optometry says 10-15%
What are the 5 causes of tears?
PVD
Trauma (globe compression in young)
Pathology i.e. CMV
Myopic round holes
Traction (DR, macular hole)
