Q

Why did Indian iron/textile production decrease?

A

British colonization limited and sometimes completely closed mines as a result of revolts and the fear of another one while British owners of textile mills wanted their government to tax lucrative Indian mills in order to equal the market, undermining their profits. Then, even after the British rule ended, they lacked technology.
