Q

Logistical Growth pattern (s-curve)

A

Seen in populations that have had a comeback growth over time. These populations usually reproduce sexually and could have a past close to extinction or where their population was hunted)

  • Has a carrying capacity. If carrying capacity reaches limit and resources are being taken up population will begin to decrease.

Q

Exponential growth (j-curve)

A

The pattern of population growth that results from a lack of carrying capacity (no limits)

Ex: asexually producing bacteria

Q

R-selected qualities

A
  • Small body size
  • Reproduce quickly
  • Short lifespan

Q

Types of symbiotic relationships

A

species who occupy the same niche and have evolved to rely on each other

1) Mutualism ( both populations benefit from the relationship)

2) Parasitism (One population benefits/increases while one stays the same)

3) Commensalism (One population grows and then they both maintain population sizes)
