the process of acquiring knowledge through experience new and relatively enduring information or behaviors; through associations
Behaviorism
the theory that psychology can be objectively studied through observations
Operant Conditioning
subject learns behaviors by associating it with consequences
Classical Conditioning
subject learns to associate two unrelated stimuli with each other
Associated Learning
linking two events that occur close together
Habituation
decreased response to a stimulus after repeated or prolonged exposure of that stimulus (different than sensory adaptation)
Stimulus
an event or situation that evokes a response
Respondent Behavior
occurs as an automatic response to some stimulus
