When different cultures become similar/cultures take part from one another. When two cultures blend to make one.

When a culture splits off to make two.

Human activity affects the environment (built environment)
Cultural Relativism
When a tradition/habits display aspects of a specific culture. Not judging another culture by your own cultural standards.
Ethnic Cultures
A group that has similar aspects of culture from the hearth (religion, language, food, clothes, etc.)
Ethnocentrism
someone’s idea of another culture based on customs they have seen. Judging another culture by your own culture’s beliefs and standards
Expansion diffusion
an idea/innovation that spreads to other locations while still existing in the hearth

culture relating and originating to the indigenous people of a place

Different beliefs/ parts of culture combine. the blending of traits from two different cultures to form a new trait.

Culture with no known hearth that is typically in small/traditional communities

A part of culture that quickly diffuses across the world but also changes quickly

Hierarchical DIffusion
Global Culture
a whole way of life of the world’s people, and also cultural works that are produced and commonly consumed by people who live within and across many countries, not just one country. Culture that spans multiple regions in the world.
Material Culture
Parts of culture that include physical objects. The artifacts of culture.
Mentifacts
The shared ideas, values, and beliefs of a culture (religion, viewpoints, and ideas about right/wrong behavior)
Sociofacts
the institutions and links between individuals and groups that unit a culture (families, governments, education, sports, religious groups, specific activities)
Ethnic Enclave
An area where everyone is of the same minority culture (china town, clothes, ethnic neighborhoods)
Neolocalism
trying to bring a culture/part of the culture back
Placelessness
An area without uniqueness. When everything begins to look the same due to globalization.
Globalization
When an idea/part of culture spreads around the world
Local culture
A part of culture where the culture began (swedish names in sweden)
glocalization
creation of products or services for the global market by adapting them to local cultures.
