Q

Dysplasia

A

Cells look less similar and multiply (Hyperplasia). All cells essentially take on their own role.

Q

Apoptosis

A

Programmed cell death. Still blebs, causes cellular fragmentation to take place. Phagocytosis happens then.

Q

Necrosis

A

Cell Death - detrimental. Membrane swells/blebs, breaks down, leakage of contents, inflammation comes to clean up.

Q

Hypoxia in cells

A

Loss of ATP,
Sodium moves out
Osmotic pressure increases
ER ruptures and forms vacuoles.

Q

ROS Reactive Oxygen Species

A

Radiation exposure/Toxins / Overproductions

Our body breaking down the byproducts would cause cell damage.

Q

Free Radicals

A

Atoms with unpaired electrons. Very unstable/Ready to pair. Causes damage.

Q

Intracellular Accumulation

A

Aggregation of cells - Lipids
Abnormal protein mutation
Lack of Enzyme - Different components accumulate
Ingestion of indigestible material - Can’t be digested.
