Glocalisation - discusses ‘reverse colonialism’ where in fact Western cultures are not dominating less powerful groups, but the reverse is occurring, such as ‘Mexicanisation’ of California, where food, music and dress is becoming key lifestyle. This is known as ‘Glocalisation’ where local cultures assert own culture, whilst resisting Western norms and values.

Religious Fundamentalists are resisting the spread of Western values - religious fundamentalists are resisting the spread of Western values - suggests that ISIS terrorist groups have anti-Western norms and values. They are religious fundamentalists but use Western technology to threaten and plan attacks on the West, but also gain followers. ISIS sent threats to the West via video broadcast on social media and audiovisual communication… use social media to encourage young people to join terrorist groups.

Digital media companies are now being forced to take into account local practices - argues that global digital media companies have also been forced to take into account local practices. Indigenous groups use the internet to protect their way of life - such as ‘survival international’ and ‘tribal net’ that aim to raise awareness and funds to protect their rights and land.
