How policies and procedures affect people in caring professions
Inspection agencies have a specific responsibility to monitor standards of provision and require immediate action where significant failings are identified.
Since the publication of Robert Francis’ report in 2013, into the failings of the Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust, issues of patient safety and the quality of care have been even more in the public eye.
How does regulation affect people in caring professions?
Regulation and inspection are used to monitor standards in these profession:
Any failure are immediately addressed
Immediate action can be required and its implementation carefully monitored.
Where there is a failure to meet standards set by the regulators, they can be disciplined and in the most serious cases, removed from professional register.
This means they can no longer practice either voluntarily or in paid employment.
