ADHD - Attention Deficit Disorder

A

D - abnormal inattention, impulsiveness, and hyperactive.
E - Genetic disposition. Any brain trauma as newborn - Fetal Alcohol syndrome, shaken baby syndrome, drug exposure.
A - impulsive shouting. Easily distracted. Asses levels of inattention/hyperactivity. Check for comorbidity i.e. ODD, Depression, Personality Disorder.
T - Involvement of family. Stimulants: Methylphenidate, or Ritalin. Non-stimulants.
H - 3 Types 1) inattentive and hyperactive 2) inattentive? 3) hyperactive

ASD - Autism Spectrum Disorder

A

D - delayed in social relationships. Sticks to routines/rituals. Resistance to change. Commonly hyper focus or have high expertise in one niche.
E - Genetic. Manifests in childhood. Dx before age 3
A - Lack of engagement.Typically child has flat affect, doesn’t play with others. Repetitive speech.
T - Behavioral therapy. ABA. School intervention??
H - “Family disorder” Family integration.

D - 2 types: speech and language.
-Speech: difficult with sounds. Such as speaking. Ex Stuttering.
-Language: difficulty with varying aspects of language, such as social cues. Difficulty with receptive or expressive language. Receptive harder to treat

A- Triggers of tics.
T-
T- “Superstar”, or arms in armpits. Behavioral therapy
E- Impulse control by detecting buildup of tic.

D - fine or gross motor movement disabilities.
E - Developmental coordination delayed.
A - tics: repetitive vocal or motor tics.
T - Behavioral therapy. Behavior modifications “super star” contain tics by putting hands in armpits, etc.
H - Not just tics, but delayed fine or gross motor capabilities. I’m merging them here.

Motor Disorder pt.2 - Movement disorders Tics, and Tourettes Syndrome.

Levels: (less to more extreme) ????

D -
1. Stereotype movement disorder: repetitive movements for 4 weeks
2. Tic disorder: unrhythmic movements or vocal expressions for under a year considered a tic.
3. After 1 year it’s dx as Tourette’s syndrome
E -
A - movement or the neck, limbs, torso. Eye rolling, shoulder shrugging, and jerking of body (head, neck). Vocal grunts, shouts, or short exclamations..
T - Safety priority!! Naltrexone removes reward feeling for following through with tics.
