Mechanism of action: dopamine antagonist.

Imipramine
Pharm/ Therapeutic class: Tricyclic antidepressant

Indications: depression, neuropathic pain, migraines, dysthymic disorder.
Mechanism of action: Block reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine.
Admin Instructions: HS
Side effects: Weight gain, anticholinergic effects (dry eyes, mouth, and constipations)
Contraindications:
Phenobarbital

Pharm/ Therapeutic class: antiarhythmic and local anesthetic

Mechanism of action: nerve block. For <3 blocks excessive electrical conductivity.
Admin Instructions: topically. Don’t rub in.
Side effects: hypotension, N/V, const. tremor

Loperamide
Pharm/ Therapeutic class: antidiarrheal

Indications: diarrhea from IBS; acute/chronic diarrhea.
Mechanism of action: binds to opiate receptor in the gut was. Releases prostaglandins and Acetylcholine.
Admin Instructions: N/A
Side effects: diarrhea, lightheadedness, blating
Contraindications: bloody stool, liver problems, pediatric pts <2.
Vasopressor
Pharm/ Therapeutic class: Hormone

Indications: Diabetes Insidious, hypovolemic shock.
Mechanism of action: artificial ADH
Admin Instructions: IM, nasal for DI
Side effects: Naus, stomach px, skin blanching.
Contraindications: CAD, kidney problems, asthma, seizures/epilepsy.
Nifedipine
Pharm/ Therapeutic class: calcium channel blocker

Indications: high blood pressure, angina. Pre-term labor.
Mechanism of action: relaxes blood vessel.
Admin Instructions: Extended release. DO NOT CRUSH.
Side effects: headache, dizziness, muscle cramps, decreased libido.
Adverse: Facial swelling, rash, jaundice, more angina.
Contraindications: unstable angina, HF. liver problems, hypotension***
