Q

What are the sequence of events in Mitosis?

A

Chromosomes replicate and are joined by a centromere.
Chromosomes line up on the equator of the cell.
Chromatids are pulled apart by spindle fibres to opposite poles.
Nuclear membrane begins to form around the cells as cytoplasm reforms.
Two identical daughter cells are formed.

Q

Why must daughter cells be identical to the original cell?

A

So that genetic information is not lost and the cells can carry out the same action.
