Types of muscles Flashcards
Thin and Thick muscle fibres actin and myosin (endomysium)
Myofibril
Fibrous membrane covering, supporting, and separating muscle tissue
Fascia
Sheet like tendon joining one muscle with another, or a muscle with a bone
Aponeurosis
White fibrous cord of dense, regular connective tissue, attaches muscle to bone
Tendon
Generally refers to the proximal attachment or stationary bone
Origin
Generally refers to the distal attachment or moving bone
Insertion
Group of muscle fibres encased in a facial sleeve called the “Perimysium”
Fascicle
Voluntary muscle control, striated
Skeletal muscle tissue
Un-voluntary muscle control, striated
Cardiac muscle tissue
Un-voluntary muscle control, un-striated
Smooth muscle tissue
- round, spindle-shaped, tapered at both ends e.g brachialis
Fusiform
short parallel fibres originating from one side of tendon
unipenniform
double pennate fibres on both sides of central tendon
bipenniform
several tendons with muscle fibres running diagonally between
multipenniform
