Hostile aggression
intend to harm another as a means to some other goals other than pure hostility
- (ex: an assassin kills a leader to ensure the success of an overthrow. Not about inflicting harm, it’s about getting what you want)
Instrumental aggression
intend to harm another person through the manipulation of relationships or social status

- Violent crime increases during heat waves and more crime in hotter regions
- Possibly due to misattribution of the physiological arousal caused by heat

anonymity may offer an opportunity for the perpetrators to disassociate their online behaviors from their “real” identity to avert responsibilities and free them from societal norms, resulting in more aggressive behaviors than traditional bullying
