ABC Components
A healthy or negative feeling toward people in a distinguishable group, based solely on their membership in that group
prejudice
Unjustifiable negative behavior toward or a group or its members
Discrimination
A generalization about a group of people, in which certain traits are assigned virtually all members of the group, regardless of actual variation among the members
Stereotypes
- A more subtle, more socially acceptable form of racism
- Greatest prejudice in the most intimate social realms
Modern Racism
subjectively positive evaluations that may inadvertently undermine agency
Benevolent Sexism
(Women should be cherished and protected by men)
an individual’s prejudicial attitudes and discriminatory behavior toward people of a given race; institutional practices that subordinate people of a given race
