A

medeival legend - the cities of Florence and Siena were vying for control of the Chianti territory. it was decided that two knights were ride out from their respective cities at sunrise (the rooster’s first crow) and the boundaries of their cities would be fixed at the point they met. Siena chose a white rooster and Florence a black rooster. Florence starved their rooster for a few days before the ride. on the day of the ride, florence’s rooster began crowing eary - giving florence’s knight a head start and allowing florence to control most of the Chianti territory
