3 weeks after primary TB

A
  1. Cell mediated immunity - granuloma to wall off bacteria
  2. Caseous necrosis of granuloma bound lung tissue = areas is called ‘Ghon focus’
  3. Caseous necrosis leads to cavitation of tissue
  4. TB spreads further through airways and lymphatic channels
  5. Systemic miliary TB

  1. TB remains latent and asymptomatic is most affected individuals

  3. TB bacteria is aerobic so spreads to upper lobes which are best aerated

  2. Meninges - meningitis
  3. Adrenal glands - addison’s disease
  4. Liver - hepatitis
