Q

Trunk extension MMT against gravity

A

Prone- pt’s toes dug into table and hands behind head, PT holds pt’s ankles to stabilize

No 1-3

4- clear belly button but shakes going down
5- clear belly button and “sticks landing”

Q

Thoracic extension MMT against gravity

A

Prone- pt’s chest hanging off table
3- arms at side; belly button clears table
4- pt’s HBH, able to get to horizontal w/ obvious effort
5- pt’s HBH, able to go to horizontal w/ no struggle

Q

Trunk flexion MMT against gravity

A

Supine- legs straight, can stabilize pelvis if needed
3- pt’s arms full extension above body; pt lifts inferior angles off table
4- pt’s arms crossed over chest and clears inferior angles
5- pt’s HBH, raises inferior angles off table

Q

Sequence 1 of trunk flexion MMT

A

Pt raises head from table
- If scapula don’t clear table then grade 2
- If pt can’t lift head proceed to sequence two

Q

Sequence 2 for trunk flexion MMT

A

PT cradles upper trunk and head off table, ask pt to lean forward
- If ribs depress, grade 2
- If no depression but visible/palpable contraction, grade 1
- If no activity, grade 0 and move to sequence three
