Q

What is sporadic sensory loss?

A

Systemic pathology that produces unpredictable or scattered patterns of sensory loss (Ex. Multiple Sclerosis)

25
Q

What is peripheral neuropathy? What body parts are affected first? Pattern?

A
  • Loss, altered, or abnormal sensation that starts at periphery and spreads proximally
  • Toes and feet
  • Glove and stocking
26
Q

What sensory exams do you perform?

A
  • Light touch
  • Pain (sharp/dull)
  • Temperature
  • Vibration
  • Stereognosis
  • 2 Point discrimination
  • Barognosis (texture)
  • Kinesthesia
  • Proprioception
  • Double simultaneous stimulation
  • Graphesthesia
