What is an independent transfer?
Patient does not require any assistance
What is a supervision transfer?
therapist only needs to observe for safety but patient can transfer on their own
What is a contact guard transfer?
patient needs therapist to maintain contact in order to complete task, usually for balance loss
What is a min assist transfer?
patient requires 25% assistance
What is a mod assist transfer?
patient requires 50% assistance
What is a max assist transfer?
Patient requires 75% assitance
What is a dependent transfer?
patient is unable to participate in the task and therapist must complete it for them
What are the 4 dependent transfer techniques?
three person carry/lift
two-person lift
dependent squat pivot transfer
hydraulic lift
What are the 3 main Assisted Transfer techniques?
Sliding Board Transfer
Stand Pivot
Stand Step
When is a sliding board transfer indicated?
Used for a patient who has some sitting balance and UE strength and is cognitively able to follow directions
When is a stand step transfer indicated?
for patient who needs some assistance but do have enough strength and balance to weight shift and step during the transfer
When is a stand step transfer indicated?
for patient who needs some assistance but do have enough strength and balance to weight shift and step during the transfer
When is a three person carry/lift transfer indicated?
For patients in a stretcher to get to a bed or plinth
When is a two person lift transfer indicated?
To transfer a patient to a seat or table that is higher than their chair or when transferring them to the ground
When is a dependent squat pivot transfer indicated?
For patients who cannot transfer but can tolerate some weight through their legs and trunk
