In conjunction with existing Safeworking Systems in the event of accident or failure
How can a driver receive a TA and from who?
Handed or Dictated from a Signaller or TC
What are the two methods a Train Authority can be issued by?
Locally - will be handed
Remotely - will be dictated
Must be written in ink and on prescribed form
What are the reasons a Train Authority is used?
Obstruction (setting back)
Assisting a Disabled Train
Safeworking System failures
What are the rules around filling out a Train Authority?
Ink and block letters
No erasures, alterations or abbreviations
On prescribed Form
Brief and clear
Only essential information
How many Train Authority forms must a driver carry?

When a Signaller hands you a TA what must you do?
Sign the butt of the form
When must a Train Authority be verified?
When the Driver does not receive it directly from Controller/Signaller
When a relief driver is sent out to take over
What is the verification procedure for a Train Authority?
Contact TC read the entire contents
Endorse the TA with the word “verified” and time, date, sign
What do you do if you fill out a TA incorrectly?
Endorse with the word “Cancelled” and time, date, sign
What do you do when operating under a TA and complete?
Local - hand TA to Signaller so they can cancel
Remote - notify Train Controller, confirm complete, cancel the TA
If a train travelling on a TA also becomes disabled, what would the next relief driver need?
A fresh TA, endorsed with number of original TA
What do you do if TA is ambiguous or unclear?
Confer with TC
