Tracts Flashcards
What are the ascending tracts?
fasciculus gracilis
fasciculus cuneatus
lateral spino-thalamic
ventral spino-thalamic
dorsal spino-cerebellar
ventral spino-cerebellar
What does the fasciculus gracilis do
from T6 down – proprioception, deep and discriminative touch, kinesthesia, weight discrimination, stereognosis, visceral pain, vibration
What does the fasciculus cuneatus do
from T6 up – proprioception, deep and discriminative touch, kinesthesia, weight discrimination, stereognosis, visceral pain, vibration
What does the lateral spino-thalamic tract do
pain, hot and cold sensations
What does the ventral spino-thalamic tract do
itch, tickle, pressure, vibrations, crude touch sensation
What does the dorsal and ventral spino-cerebellar tracts do
proprioception
What are the descending tracts
lateral cortico-spinal
ventral cortico-spinal
cortico-bulbar
tecto-spinal
vestibulo-spinal
lateral and medial reticulo-spinal
What does the lateral cortico-spinal tract do and is it pyramidal or extra pyramidal
neck, trunk, limbs
What does the ventral cortico-spinal tract do and is it pyramidal or extra pyramidal
neck, upper limb
What does the cortico-bulbartract do and is it pyramidal or extra pyramidal
facial expression, chewing
What does the tecto-spinal tract do and is it pyramidal or extra pyramidal
extrapyramidal
reflexive head and eye movements in response to visual and auditory stimuli
What does the vestibulo-spinal tract do and is it pyramidal or extra pyramidal
extrapyramidal
reflexive control of muscle tone for maintaining balance and posture in response to head movements
What does the lateral and medial reticulo-spinal tract do and is it pyramidal or extra pyramidal
extrapyramidal
reflexive control of muscle tone for maintaining balance and posture,
