Ch 7 Appendicular Skeleton Flashcards
What is the Pectoral girdle composed of?
Clavicle and Scapula
What is the function of the clavicle?
Connects the upper extremity to the axial skeleton
What are the parts of the shoulder/pectoral girdle pictured?
What are the joints of the clavicle in the shoulder/pectoral girdle?
Sternoclavicular joint and Acromioclavicular joint
Where are the joints of the scapula in the pectoral/shoulder girdle?
Glenohumeral joint
What are the characteristics of the scapula and glenohumeral joint?
Scapula has not bony attachments to the axial skeleton
Glenohumeral joint has a loose fit
-lots of mobility but not alot of stability
What are the characteristics of the shoulder/pectoral girdle?
No articulations with vertebral column
Not very stable
-wide range of movement
What are the bones of the upper extremity pictured?
What is the purpose of the olecranon process?
Keeps elbow from hyperextending
When transitioning between supination and pronation which bones of the upper extremity move and which stays in place?
Ulna doesn’t moe but radius does
What are the three components of the Pelvic girdle pictured?
What bones make up the Coxa?
What is the portion of the coxal bone pictured? What is its function?
Acetabulum is the cup shaped portion of the hip bone that receives the femoral head of the femur bone,
What are the regions of the pelvis pictured?
Where are the pelvic inlet and pelvic outlet?
Pelvic inlet enters in through top and pelvic outlet exits through bottom
