Topic 7 Flashcards

1
Q

What are the features of dynamic equilibrium?

A
  • The reversible reaction has a forward and a reverse
  • Happens in a closed system
  • rate of forward = rate of backwards reaction
  • No change in macroscopic properties ( colour/pH)

Q

Le Chatelier’s principle for pressure

A
  • only affects equilibrium position if there are different amount of gaseous molecules on both sides
  • if you increase pressure equilibrium shifts to the side with fewer gaseous molecules to decrease the pressure
  • if you decrease pressure equilibrium shifts to the side with more gaseous molecules
