Define bicameral
A legislative body made up of 2 chambers.
Define parliamentary sovereignty
a constitutional principle that designates parliament as the supreme legal authority in the UK
what are 3 features of parliamentary sovereignty?
-parliament can create or dispose of any laws
-acts of parliament cannot be over riden by any other branch of government
-parliament cannot be bound by its predecessors and likewise, cannot bind its successor
what is collective ministerial responsibility?
the convention that cabinet ministers are expected to publicly support the PMs decisions no matter what.
What is the Liaison Committee?
Consists of chairs of all departmental select committees as well as other committees. Calls PM to account. Twice a year PM must appear before Liaison Committee. However PMs have previously cancelled these appearances.
