Unemployment in Germany rose to 6 million.
What did Chancellor Brüning do in July 1930?
In July 1930 Chancellor Brüning cut government expenditure, wages and unemployment pay - the worst thing to do during a depression.
What did President Hindenburg do to bypass Chancellor Brüning?
President Hindenburg used Article 48 to pass the measures by decree.
In the Great Depression what was a key factor in enabling the Nazis to gain more support?
Anger and bitterness helped the Nazis to gain more support.
How did Hitler’s campaigns become financed?
Many workers turned to communism, but this frightened wealthy businessmen, so they financed Hitler’s campaigns.
Why did the Nazis not have much success before 1930s?
After the Munich Putsch of 1923, Hitler realised that the only way that he was going to get into power and stay in power was if he was voted in by winning the election.
What happened as a result of the Munich Putsch of 1923?
The Nazi party was banned and Hitler was put in prison where he wrote ‘Mein Kampf’ displaying how it was now a better idea to attempt to be voted in rather than attempt a Putch of the government.
When was the Nazi Party relaunched?
At a rally in 1925.
In what ways was the party different after the relanch of 1925?
Hitler had reorganised the party to make it more effective in electrions. This included more of an ephasis of properganda and focussing on what people wanted from a governement in the difficult times.
What were the main focuses of the Nazi Party during the 1920s?
-Lebensraum - the need for ‘living space’ for the German nation to expand.
-A strong Germany - the Treaty of Versailles should be abolished and all German-speaking people united in one country.
-Führer - the idea that there should be a single leader with complete power rather than a democracy.
Social Darwinism - the idea that the Aryan race was superior and Jews were ‘subhuman’.
-Autarky - the idea that Germany should be economically self-sufficient.
-Germany was in danger - from Communists and Jews, who had to be destroyed.

- Only true Germans allowed in Germany. Jews particularly were to be executed
