Topic 6 - Fieldwork Flashcards
What is the name of your location human fieldwork
Boscombe
How did you do systematic sampling in human fieldwork
Measured on a main road in both areas of boscombe east and west. We measured 7 different factors: noise, greenary, condition of housing, safety whilst alone, litter/graffiti/vandalism. We measured using a bi-polar scale between -2 and +2
What does a radar graph look like (describe)
Hexagon with 7 factors on each points
What is your enquiry question for human fieldwork
How and why are there variations in quality of life for different areas within boumouth
What two places did you go to in boscombe, which is nicer?
Boscombe west (churchill gardens) not as nice
Boscombe east (merry shuly) nicer
Give example of primary data and secondary
Sauce of data is from 2020 (primary) so might be out of date (secondary)
What is primary data
Data that is collected direct from research or own work
What is secondary data
Data colected from other sources
What is the enquiry question for physical fieldwork
How effective are the coastal managment strategies in swanage bay?
Where is the study location of physical fieldwork
Swanage beach, dorset, south east england
Why is swanage beach an appropriate study location (3)
Fairly safe area, easy to get to, has different types of managment techniques, not a private beach
How do geology maps show you how you location is suitable to study (physical)
The geology map shows swanage bay is on a discordant coastline and is on soft rock. This shows that is clearly an eroding coastline and will be managed by different techniques.
What is soft engeneering
Schemes set up using knowledge of a river and its processes to reduce the side effects of flooding
