Extensive Agriculture
crop cultivation and rasiing livestock that require little hired labor or capital investment to make a profti relative to the amount of land used
Nomadic Herding
a system of breeding and raising livestock, such as cattle, sheep or goats by following the seasonal movement of rainfall to areas of pastureland
Ranching
raising large herds of livestock, such as cattle, sheep, or goats, on massive tracts of land to sell as meat, hides, or wool
Shifting Cultivation
the cultivation of a plot of land until it can no longer support crop growth. the farmers then shift to another plot of land of land which has been cleared through slash-and-burn techniques
Intensive Agriculture
crop cultivation and raising livestick that require large amounts of labor and captial to make a profit relative to the amount of land used
Market Gardening
small-scale farming system in which a farm plants one to a few acres that produce a large variety of vegetables and fruits, which are the sold to local or regional markets
Mixed Crop and Livestock Farming
a system of agriculture that includes the cultivation of crops and raising of livestock
Plantation Agriculture
a system of commercial agriculture that is practiced in developing countries
Mediterranean Climate
typical of lands surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, but can also be found on the west coasts of Continents. Winters are mild with rainfall averaging between 15-25 inches; Summers are typically hot and dry
Tropical Climate
Wet: climate zone located along the equator. temperautes are hot and precipitation falls daily
Wet and Dry: climate zone located along the equator that has a dry season (usually in the winter); subject to monsoons
