- rural lifestyles can disappear as people move to cities
- popular culture looks to cities for inspiration
Globalization
(large-scale)
the trend toward increased cultural and economic connectedness between people, business, and organizations throughout the world
Examples: English classes, McDonalds
Pros of Globalization
- provides oppurtunities to traditionally isolated community
- provides “strength in numbers”
Cons of Globalization
- not all cultural traits are seen as positive
- threatens folk culture
- threatens environments as corporations compete for resources
