Youth sport and family
sport programs initially developed for boys. girls participation started in the 70’s. youth support involves the whole family and has implication to parenting practices. requires family money
Benefits of youth sport
strengthen family unit and shared passion for common interest. enhance opportunities for communication w their children. facilitate belonging
Darker side of sport
can create social divide between families that can afford sport and those who cannot. can affect daily family life because time demand. can lead to over scheduling children
