Titan SCBA Flashcards
What is the CGA handwheel made of?
6061-T6 Aircraft Aluminum
What is the maximum working pressure of the SCBA?
4500 psi
UAC NFPA Mandate
NFPA 1981
What is the high pressure hose made of?
Teflon liner with a stainless steel braided jacket covered by a woven Nomex sheath
What are the high pressure hoses tested to? Their minimum burst pressure?
5,000 psig
Burst pressure 18,000 psig
Where does pressure reduction take place?
Between the plastic seat and the orifice end of the brass piston
Intermediate Pressure range static and dynamic
80-150 static and 70-155 dynamic
What does the pressure transducer do?
Converts cylinder pressure into an electric signal which is sent to the PASS and HUD
What is the High Pressure Over-Pressure Relief Valve (HPRV) and when does it activate?
Protects the pressure reducer from over pressurization when the UAC is in use during bottle refills at 5400-5650 psig
Auxiliary Intermediate Pressure Connection Port
port in 1st stage pressure reducer that allows a connection point for the optional buddy breather and SAR attachment
What does the intermediate pressure end of the alarm part group do?
Provides the air supply needed to drive the audible low air alarm.
Intermediate Pressure Over Pressure Relief Valve
It protects the system against IP over-pressurization. This
relief valve is set to open should there be a situation that causes the intermediate pressure (IP) to exceed
225 psig.
What is the back plate made of?
Lightweight aluminum backplate with an aluminum hip plate
Back plate & grab handle pull strength
1,000 lbs
Rating of gear straps
100lbs
Air cylinder made of
An aluminum inner liner, composite carbon fiber construction, and a fiberglass epoxy matrix overwrap.
Maximum working pressure 4500 PSI
Cubic feet in 45 and 60 min bottle
65.6 (45min)
87 (60min)
When should bottles be changed
Less than 4000psi
How often should a bottle be hydrostatically tested?
Every 5 years & when new
Cylinder life span
15-30 years
What does the first stage pressure reducer contain (4)
Pressure reduction components
Primary low air alarm activation and adjustment mechanisms
Intermediate pressure connection to the second stage regulator
High pressure transducer connection to the HEADS- UP DISPLAY (HUD)
What does the first stage pressure reducer lower the cylinder air pressure to
115 psi
When does the intermediate pressure relief valve activate and why?
To protect the system when the intermediate pressure exceeds 200 to 225 psi.
At what pressure does the warbling whistle or bell alarm activate?
1485 to 1665 psi
How is the pressure demand second stage regulator mounted on the facepiece?
Using the Honeywell AIRKLlC system. This mechanism automatically locks when the regulator is pushed into the AIRKLIC and is detached when both of the gray release buttons are
pressed.
2 ways the second stage regulator is activated
The First Breath On mechanism or the manual override button on the front of the regulator
