What are the two major objectives of the LAFD?
A
- To control/extinguish fires, prevent them, and enforce laws preventing them
- Provide BLS/ALS and transport to medical facilities

Role of the Board of Fire Commissioners?
A
- Supervise, control & regulate the Department
- Make/enforce rules
- Hold a public meeting twice monthly

Role of the Fire Chief?
A
- Appoint, discharge, suspend, transfer or issue instructions to members
- Expend department funds
- Make budget recommendations
- Make monthly written report to the Board

Role of the Chief Deputy?
A
- Direct the functions of the department (Emergency Ops or Admin Ops)
- Represent the Chief at agency meetings
- Serve as IC for major emergencies

- Hold meetings with line officers
- Inspect fire stations, apparatus & personnel
