Tissue Types (Lab) Flashcards
Epithelial Tissue
Lines, covers, protects and secretes.
Connective Tissue
Cells in a non-living background.
Muscle
Can contract in response to a stimulus.
Nervous Tissue
Consists of 2 types of cell…
A.) Neurons can initiate and propagate an action potential.
B.) Glial Cells act as support.
What are the connective tissues?
Areolar, *Adipose, *Reticular and *Blood
What are the Loose Connective Tissues?
Dense, Dense regular, Dense irregular, *Blood, *Hyaline cartilage, and *Bone.
Chondroblast
Makes cartilage
What are the different muscle types?
*Skeletal (striated), *Cardiac, and smooth.
Apical Surface
Open to the outside world
Which type of tissue lines the urinary tract?
Transitional tissue
What determines whether connective tissue is dense or loose?
The amount of fibers in the tissue (such as collagen, elastic fibers, or reticular fibers)
What is a function of areolar tissue?
It acts as support to other tissue.
What cells make up adipose tissue?
Adipocytes
What are the general tissue types?
Epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue, and nervous tissue
What are specific tissue types?
Simple squamous, simple cuboidal, simple columnar, stratified squamous, pseudostratified, and transitional.
