Q

Define Emergent under the TCG?

A

At the time of the vital sign survey the patient is not in actual physiological distress, however they have a pattern of injury or medical condition that has a high probability of deterioration into actual physiological distress

Q

Describe potential under the TCG?

A

At the time of the vital sign survey the patient is not in actual physiological distress and doesn’t have a serious pattern of injury/illness, however there is a mechanism of injury that has a high probability of deterioration into actual physiological distress

Q

what are the emergent time critical guideline criteria?

A
  • Penetrating injury: except isolated superficial limb injury
  • Blunt Injuries: serious to one region that requires specialised care/intervention or to multiple body parts, or that constitute a threat to a limb or quality of life.
  • Specific injuries: Spinal injury, burns >15% TBSA, High voltage burns, pelvic fracture, fracture 2 or more long bones, amputation, major compound/open fracture, serious crush.
