If a patient presents with a chemical burn to the eye what should be done?
Flush eye with saline
Cover eye and transport
If a patient has a foreign body in their eye what should be done?
Flush with saline
Cover
transport
What should be done if there is a penetrating eye injury?
Don’t remove
Cup object to keep in place and cover
Consider ondansetron
What to do if there is an orbital blow out?
Reassurance and transport
What should be done if there is a patient with an eye avulsion?
Reassurance, cup, cover, transport
What causes a flash burn to the eyes and what would you expect to see?
Cornea exposed to UV light- welding, sun, snow
Symptoms 5-10 hours post- red and watery eye, blurred vision and sensitivity to light. ‘sand in eyes’
What is the management to a flash burn on the eyes?
Pain relief and cover the eye
What are the three classes of Le Forte fracture?
1- between maxillary floor and orbital floor
2- maxilla, zygomatic and nasal fracture
3- full middle third mobility
What is the main goal post a tooth avulsion?
Re-implantation within a few hour of injury to avoid necrosis of tooth pulp
