- serrated outer body or smooth outer body with serrated inner body or liner to enhance frag pattern
- crimp halfway on the body

How do you ID blast grenades?
- shapes vary but are generally cylindrical
- cardboard, plastic, or non-lethal frag producing material, used as a concussion type grenade

How do you ID HEAT grenades?
- break in major diameter
- stabilization assembly may be a parachute, string or even boom
- May look like a soup can on a stick

BD-HE, frag, move, jet, C/S
How do you ID burning smoke grenades?
- metal, plastic or rubber body
- shapes cylindrical to oval
- vent holes on top or bottom

How do you ID bursting smoke?
- usually cylindrical
- may have a burster adapter where the fuse meets the grenade

How do you ID riot control grenades?
- usually cylindrical
- can be oval or round shape
- light metal, plastic or rubber
- may look like a smoke grenade, use color codes to ID

How do you ID incendiary grenades?
- body is sheet metal
- gray in color with purple markings and a single purple band
- under the standard color coding system, incendiary grenades are light red with black markings

How do you ID Illumination grenades?
- pressed together 2/3rds down on grenade
- body is sheet metal
- grenade is white with black markings; newer models are unpainted or OD black markings
