- impact
- impact inertia
- clock work
- mechanical time (MT)
- electronic time (ET)
- proximity (VT)
- electrical !!!
2
Q
How can you ID impact fuses?
A
- made of lightweight metal
- may have visible plunger
- may have an air-powered arming vane to arm the fuse
- nose fuse only
3
Q
What are the impact fuse safeties?
A
fuse->dropped->
HE, frag move
4
Q
How can you ID clockwork fuses?
A
- steel construction, cylindrical in shape 6” long
- four rivets around the circumference of the fuse body
- has a notch cut on end of fuse which looks like the letter “C”
- tail fuse only
5
Q
What are clockwork fuse safeties?
A
fuse->dropped->
HE, frag, move, C/S, CW
6
Q
How can you ID dropped mechanical time fuse?
A
- can be used with all bombs and dispensers
- will be set prior to or during flight
- may have arming vanes
- may have glass window to ID time settings
7

A
Fuse->dropped->
HE, frag, move, C/S
8
Q
How can you ID dropped electronic time fuse?
A
- used with newer bombs (GPNS, GPLD)
- internal fuse on bombs
- may have a pop-out pin
- difficult to use
9

A
Fuse->dropped->
HE, frag, move, C/S, EMR, static, 24hr WT
10
Q
How can you ID dropped proximity (VT) fuse?
A
- body made from combination of lightweight metal and plastic
- has an internal battery
- reaches a predetermined height then detonates
