Projected Guided Missiles Flashcards
1
Q
How can you ID guided missiles?
A
- comprised of at least three sections: guidance, warhead, and rocket motor
- some will have control surfaces. Control surfaces are any movable airfoil used to control a guided missile
- control surfaces are usually connected to guidance section and may use rocket motors for control
- stationary or folding fins
- may be deployed: air to surface, surface to air, surface to surface
- can be guided by: infrared, radar, TV, radio and wire
- may use internal terrain following and GPS
2
Q
What are the guided missile fuses?
A
- variable time (VT)/impact (long and skinny)
- PIBD (short and fat)
3
