eosin-negrosin stain (Red is dead). h&e stains evaluate different cells in ejaculate. WBC always abnormal- infection. 10 mil/pound. prostatic exam on all intact dogs.

A

ejaculation of seminal fluid that does not contain sperm (shooting blanks). bilateral cryptorchidism, intersex animals, germinal cell aplasia, testicular trauma, orchitis, testicular neoplasia. should be able to detect ALP in ejaculate, originates in tail of epididymis.

common in older dogs under testosterone. can be asymptomatic, incontinent, tenesmus. ribbon like stool. affect fecal contents. not painful. castration or finasteride. n50% shrunk 3 weeks after castration. finasteride is 5 alpha reductase inhibitor, causes prostate to shrink

gram neg aerobic coccobacilus. zoonotic. mucus membranes. oronasal, fomites. screen every six months. intracellular infection. REPORTABLE. lymphadenopathy, repro dz, etc. Dx by RSAT test. sensitive, but not specific. false positive common. true negaives.
