They believe society is patriarchal- institutions are run by and in the interests by men

How have liberal feminists been criticised by radical feminists?
The fail to recognise that patriarchal values are rooted in other areas of social life such as the family
What do radical feminists believe?
The structure of society is based on the oppression of women
What is needed according to radical feminists?
Revolutionary change is needed to bring about new ‘gender roles’ and real equality

That patriarchy was the first and most fundamental form of inequality and all women are expected to be subservient to all men

The working power to keep women in subordinate roles
How are sexual politics used in the family?
Women are brought up to expect and assume subordinate roles

Women aren’t expected to study subject which lead to high powered or highly paid jobs
