  • Note: It should include the key quality requirements for the product, standards and processes to be applied, the way any customer or supplier quality management system will be used and any measurements that may be useful in assessing whether the project’s product meets the expectations*

what is the acceptance criteria

A

a prioritised list of criteria that the project product must meet before the customer will accept it. This will help to set the quality tolerances.

*Note: In many projects, it is unrealistic to expect to have everything, due to constraints of cost and time. Therefore the acceptance criteria should be prioritized. *

A

the way we will check the product meets its criteria and the responsibilities of those involved. There are basically two types of quality method.

what are the 2 types of quality method

A

1) ‘In-process’, where specialist methods are used in the creation of the products and ongoing quality inspections

2) ‘Appraisal’ methods
where the finished products are assessed for completeness. Testing is carried out where the quality criteria are objective and measurable and quality inspection methods are used where some subjective judgement is required

what is quality control

A

is about testing and making sure that what we produce is fit for purpose and meets its quality criteria. It involves:

  • Checking products meet their quality criteria by testing, review, inspections
  • Identifying ways of eliminating poor performance by implementing lessons we have learned in previous stages or projects

what is the difference between quality assurance vs project assurance

A

Both of them are used to check that the project is being managed and directed properly but:

  • quality assurance is independent of the project

whereas

  • project assurance is the project boards responsibility so it is NOT independent of the project. Each board member has a set of responsibilities and these responsibilities cannot be delegated to the Project Manager, Project Support or Team Managers

  • The way quality will be communicated through the life cycle
  • The roles and responsibilities of those involved
  • We also make sure the quality criteria for the products are specified in the product descriptions
  • Maintain quality records
  • Specify customer’s quality expectations and acceptance criteria
  • Use lessons to inform planning, including defining quality criteria and expectations

As a minimum two products must be produced and maintained which are the quality management approach and the quality register.

  • Act as a pointer to the quality records
  • Act as a summary of the number and type of quality activities undertaken

what is a quality review

A

where a team of qualified people get together with the express purpose of checking a completed product for errors.

It can be carried out at any point in project but are most likely to be completed in the managing product delivery process as the product is completed.

what are the 3 steps included in the quality review technique

A

1) Review preparation – confirming time + location for review. A copy of the product for review should be disturbed (if possible) and assessed against quality criteria. A question list can be sent to producer.

2) Review meeting agenda – discussion and clarification to any major errors, agreement on appropriate actions and agreement on the outcome of the quality review. The results of the quality review will normally be:
* Complete - the product is fit for purpose
* Conditionally complete - the product is fit for purpose subject to the actions being completed, or incomplete - the product requires another review cycle.

3) Review follow-up activities will usually involve completing the actions and communicating the results appropriately to management and storing the records produced during the review
