What are sacracments?
A
important chrisian cermonies that have been officially recognized as having been established by Jesus

What are the physical and spiritual side of the sacraments?
A
- the physical side refers to things that can be experienced with the five senses.
- spiritual side refers to the spiritual blessing that a person receives from the sacrament.

What is baptism and what happens?
A
- baptism is when a person formally becomes a member of the church.
- After Jesus was ressurected, he commanded his disciples to baptise “all nations”.
- A priest pours water 3 times over the child’s head as this shows the Trinity has entered their life and sins have been washed away.

What is confirmation?
A
- This is when a person chooses to confirm they are a member of the Church. They restate the promises that were made on their behalf on their baptism.

What is Eucharist and what happens?
A
- Recalls the last supper
- The priest prays God’s special blessing on the bread and with each person is given a small piece of bread or a wafer, and a sip from a cup of win. Those baptised will have bread and wine.

what is marriage?
A
- the legal union of a man and a woman, who promise before God that they will love and respect each other until they are parted by death.

what is taking holy orders?
A
- when a person becomes a deacon, priest or bishop

what is reconciliation?
A
- when a person confesses their sins to a priest and they are forgiven by God

what is anointing the sick?
A
- when a person who is very ill is anointed with holy oil.
- the sick person confesses their sins and prays with their priest.

what is the difference between the church of england and the catholic church?
A
Church of England:
sacraments are symbols of God’s love.
Catholic Church:
sacraments are ‘effective signs’. They bring about the thing they symbolize.
