What were the principles of Lord Liverpool’s government?

A

Laissez-Faire. This meant that the government should not interfere with workings of the market economy and so the economy would function due to supply and demand rather than state interference.

What were the Social Problems during Industrialisation?

A

No mechanisms to deal with problems of public health or maintaining social order. Towns and cities became overcrowded. There was an absence of safety regulations in factories and nowhere for the poor to turn apart from begging or crime.

A

Greater wealth, bigger population, middle classes prospered and it facilitated the growth of trade unions as working class men were close to each other.

A

The issue had resurfaced in 1815 after the War ended. 1933 the act gave slaves within British territories their right to freedom.

Why was Britain in need of reform?

A

Population was rising, political power was in the hands of landowning aristocracy, few people had the vote, large areas of the population had no representation in Britain, ownership of property was essential for political participation and the MC and WC had no power or influence.
